Has anyone heard of United Credit Association? They are a credit repair agency. I want to know if those agencies are legal and if they really can repair your credit. My realtor recommended it to me because they had a meeting with some realtors in Houston, TX and they guaranteed to fix your credit in 6 months.
I always find it funny to read the myths people print about credit repair companies. My favorite one is “Why pay someone to do something for you that you can do yourself?” This is the most absurd of all the questions I have ever read. If your car breaks down, you take it to a mechanic. You can do it yourself, true, but it is wizer to trust a professional to do it for you. This can be said of tax preparation, legal litigation, plumbing, and virtually any other service provided in this country. Are we going to tell all of America that they should stop using these services simply because you can do the job yourself? No.
The truth is that you can repair your credit yourself. However, if you don’t know what you are doing (and 95% of people don’t know how to do it correctly), you will DAMAGE your credit report and lower your score. That is why you hire a professional credit repair company to do it for you. United Credit Association is one of the very few credit repair companies out there who are legitimate. However, they are far from the best. They do a decent job and can raise your score a bit in six months or so. Like Lexington Law, they are limited in their ability to remove ALL negative information from your credit report. Sometimes they get lucky and get it all removed, but usually, something gets left behind. And after that six months, if the information they had removed returns to your report, you have to pay again to have it removed again.
Ideally, you should go with a company that will offer you their services over an extended period of time (for example, 18 months) so that after they have cleaned up your credit report, they can monitor it to ensure that the information that has been removed stays gone. If it returns, they should not charge you to have it removed again. They should know how to go through the roadblocks that the credit reporting agencies will throw up to prevent success.
Yes, such a company exists.

I am a single mom who works full time and goes to school full time that is in desperate need of a car. Does anyone know of any programs or of anyway that can help me to obtain an safe reliable automobile that won’t break the bank on gas money or repairs. My 98 Jeep Laredo just bit the dust. I am honestly out of options as I don’t have the credit to go to a dealership not the money to pay outrageous payments plus full coverage insurance. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Try looking in the Pennysaver and newspaper. Look for a reliable car like a Honda, Acura, or Toyota. Make sure that it isn’t too old. Also make sure to check out the car before you buy, if you don’t know that much about cars then try and get a coworker/friend/family member who does to look at it with you and point out pro’s and con’s. You can also check EbayAuto and Craigslist. Lastly, ask friends/family/coworkers if they have a car they would be willing to sell to you for a good price or maybe you could pay over time.
I received a letter from Goggins & Lavintman concerning a bad check. I have never written a bad check knowingly and when I have overdrawn I have had overdraw protection or covered the check immediately when notified by the bank.
Goggins & Lavintman said I wrote a bad check for $775.00 to IOC Lake Charles Palais. When I searched the internet to see who this is and it turns out to be Isle of Capri Casino Grand Palais. I live in NW Indiana and have never been in a casino in my life. The only time I have been through Lake Charles, LA is passing through on I-10 on my way from Houston to Florida. The supposed check was written in 2003. I have been in Louisiana only in 2006 and that was on a Missions Trip with my church to help with hurricane relief after Katrina.
Is this thing legit or are they just fishing to see who will send them money. I hope I don’t have to hire a lawyer to handle this. I have thought of filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Minnesota. Any suggestions?
Be careful this may be Identity theft ! you need to write these people and tell your story. You also need to check your credit
reports with all three credit bureaus TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. Try www. freecreditreport.com and check for other unpaid bills! If there are no other charges that are not yours consider yourself lucky!
If this Lake Charles thing is not on your Credit Report one of two things may be the case .First it may not be there because they just now found you and are giving you the chance to pay
or: Second it is not on there because they may themselves have some doubt about this charge really being yours!
