debt consolidation … Debt Relief or a scam?

SCAM !!!!! I have done already and it is assumed that my credit score .. That does not! and mine was through United Way is a world renowned center nonprofit. They force you to close all your credit cards .. NO is supposed to close your credit card or your credit card will reflect negatively .. Once you get a zero balance its supposed to keep them open but not cut the card shows that you are able to keep open a zero credit. Closeing them only makes things worse and makes you start again, basically, your credit card. Six years later and still I have bad credit for it. From the link below: 8. Do not close an account to remove from registration. It's a myth that closing an account removes it from your credit report. This is false, even closed accounts remain on your report, possibly for an indefinite period time and can still be taken into account in the scoring. In fact, closing accounts can sometimes hurt your account unless you also pay your debt, at the same time.
