Crazy Consumption Case # 1 – Shopaholics Anonymous

Last week we saw the phenomenon of 'Crazy consumption "no idea where consumers are outweigh the desire to make purchases without control, even when you can afford. This habit out of control spending destroys the economic vitality of their victims dumping them in the huge debt and the provision that prevents them from achieving their goals of money.

We opened the floor to our readers for real stories of people suffering from this dreaded disease and the expense is desperate for solutions to get your life back on track. Our first case is that of Marcia * suffering from a case of Crazy Consumption.

Marcia's story:

I am an old forty-something professionals with a great job and fabulous friends. On paper upward mobility may seem progressive, but the truth is that my financial situation is in shambles. Despite earning a good salary, I have savings because I have absolutely no control over how I spend my money. For me, shopping is an escape from reality, like when I shop, I have nothing to think about the personal problems that haunt me. My biggest weakness are the times when I'm alone with nothing to occupy my time. Then surf the Internet and go shopping crazy things online.

I work with an international agency that requires me to travel frequently. On these trips abroad to fall in spending in excess, sometimes reason. The last time I was out, I walked into a department store to buy an expensive gift and left with over $ 400 worth perfume me. I do not even like to wear perfume because it affects my allergies. I do not know what came over me. Most people could spend on Christmas, but for me, Christmas is all year round!

The Bigger Picture

In further discussion with Marcia, she revealed I was actually seeing a therapist for help with personal problems of his past. Many of the problems arising from the sense of rejection she felt when her mother left with family and migrated when Marcia was only six years old. Most of his life experiences have been affected by emotional anxiety, and their status Financial is only a symptom of deeper concerns.

Marcia Shopping provides a dangerous form of comfort. In the same way dependent on addicted to drinking, gambling or drugs to reduce the pain they are feeling inside, so it is based on the purchase of relief. Although there are no side effects physicists of his habit, crazy, consumption has left financially challenged. Marcia is heavily indebted, and his problem is compounded by their inability to come to face your debt. She ignores his accounts and bank statements, saying she is mentally prepared to deal with this problem. Meanwhile, your debt is out of control.

The Cure

Marcia confessed that she was emotionally vulnerable, and that she really did not have the strength to cope with their problems financial headache now. She says she prefers to focus its energies on trying to manage their past wounds with the help of the therapist, but then you might feel more able to address its debt situation. However, we agree they were some of the strategies that could be used to control excessive spending, and to take their longer paid.

First, Marcia revealed that she was trying to start his own business in the area you are passionate about. We have studied the way could use their free time to concentrate on developing their ideas, instead of being tempted to buy online. You agree to:

1. Create and follow a simple action plan for their new company,
2. Focus on making money for themselves instead of just spending itself.

Secondly, we how to separate it from the excess money he spent so freely. We made a basic assumption that exposed his necessary expenses, and then gave him a small allowance to spend on herself. You agree to:

investing 1. Start an account that had limited access,
2. Sign up for a pay deduction that would eliminate the agreed amount before she saw him.

Marcia's case does not have a quick fix, and it will have a period consistent financial coaching and personal therapy for her to be completely cured. However, the good news is that Marcia recognized their problems and seek professional guidance appropriate.
