Ex Messed Up Everything!!!!?
My fiance ex-wife has seriously messed up his credit. We just applied to refinance his car and we were denied because she has two charge offs on his credit report that the divorce decree says is her responsibility. It has been a huge battle since they got divorced. We do not even know where to start to try to take care of this mess. If anyone knows of a good lawyer or financial counseling in Missouri it would be greatly appreciated. It feels like a never ending battle and we just want it to end! We have both had bad luck before and we are just ready for all the drama to be over so we can get on with our lives and not be denied for things because of her. Please offer any help you can!

Andrea the problem will not just go away. See it is the fault of his attorney in divorce court that did not make it mandatory for her to close the account and transfer the balance to a new card and provide proof in court of the actions. Attorneys think every one will do the right thing but that just rarely happens in the real world. They are so versed on the law that they leave out common sense all most every day.
Since he is a co maker on this card he may try contacting the card company and agree to pay 1/2 of the bill to get it off his report and they may agree. If they do get it writing before he sends them one dime to expunge his record. That is the only hope he has. Chances are slim but that is the only chance he has.
