Credit Bureau Repair

Should I dispute a derogatory acct. using the credit bureau’s online dispute method?
I have been reading a lot about credit repair methods and have decided to dispute some of the items on my account that may or may not be erroneous. I have read a lot about mailing a certified letter to one of the three bureaus and at that point they get 30 days to respond. However, I have also seen on the bureaus’ websites that I can dispute items online. Does this follow the same 30 day policy? Does either way provide more or less of a chance for a successful removal? Your input is appreciated!
Absolutely, 1000% do it via certified, return receipt mail. This is the only way you have proof of your dispute and the day it was recieved. It is also best to not do it using a credit report from the annualcreditreport site. These allow them 45 days to complete the investigation. You don’t want this.
If you do it via mail and the item is deleted and then (after the 30 days) the item is put back on, you simply have to just send your proof that they had the dispute longer than 30 days and they will put it back on. You can’t ‘prove’ anything via online or a phone call.. not in the way they consider it proof.
Stick with mail only. If you go to http://www.comebackcredit.com, there is a post about the credit dispute process. It talks about the entire process and best way to do it. I’m not sure of the exact name of the post but it should be pretty recent.
