Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Garnishments

chapter 13 bankruptcy garnishments
Pro-bono chapter 13 BK filing- Denver, CO?

I am in desperate financial trouble ( I am being garnished for something I should not be) It is taking $600 from me a month. The bankruptcy that I need to file is $1500. With my garnishment, I just cant afford it. I need some free help…Any advise? Please and thank you!

The bankruptcy filing will stop the garnishment. Most bankruptcy attorneys wrap a good portion of their own fee into the Ch 13 Plan payments that you will be making over the next several years.

Legal Aid typically does not handle Ch 13 cases because Ch 13 cases require an attorney who will follow and manage the case for the next 5 years.

You need an attorney with whom you can establish a long term attorney-client relationship.

Most bankruptcy attorneys offer a free or very low cost appointment to discuss these issues, including how you would pay for their services if you decide to hire them. Bankruptcy attorneys are intimately familiar with the, “I-don’t-have-any-money-for-an-attorney!” issue among those who need to file bankruptcy. Bankruptcy attorneys deal almost exclusively with clients who are “totally broke” and “don’t have any money for an attorney” (think about it…).

Will all of my assets be taken from me?
