Could the US government declare bankruptcy and start fresh with no debt?
Actually the U.S. IS bankrupt..our largest banks are borrowing furiously from the Chinese and Middle east with some help also from Europe.
The problem is that by doing so, which would take an act of congress and concurrence from the senate and the president, we would virtually be saying to other nations..we screwed you didn’t we..we would find it hard to be trusted again, but in reality many countries have done the same thing, and the world has forgiven all their debt..South America and African nations the most.
It would probably cause a worldwide depression, and kiss goodbye buying anything foreign made or traveling to other countries, because our money would be no good there.
